Privacy

Your music stays on your Mac.

Who is responsible

Paul Csapak, hello@paulcpk.com. GrooveKit is a free, non-commercial open-source project.

This website

groovekit.org is a static site hosted on GitHub Pages. It sets no cookies, has no analytics or tracking, and loads nothing from other servers; even the font comes from this site. To deliver the pages and keep the service secure, GitHub, Inc. (USA) as the host receives your IP address and the usual request data. See the GitHub Privacy Statement.

Downloads, source code and issues

The app is downloaded from GitHub releases, and the source code and issues are on GitHub too, under GitHub’s terms. What you write in an issue is public.

The app

GrooveKit runs on your Mac. There’s no account, and it sends no analytics, telemetry or usage data anywhere, and doesn’t check for updates. Your songs, samples, recordings and settings stay on your Mac, and the engine accepts connections only from your own computer. Plugins you load are their makers’ software and follow their policies.

The agent

Only when you use the agent does data leave your Mac, and then it goes to the AI provider you chose, not to the GrooveKit project:

  • The agent panel in the app sends your messages, and what the agent reads of the song to carry them out (track and sample names, notes, mix settings, sample file paths, analysis results), to Anthropic’s API with your own API key, under Anthropic’s terms and privacy policy. Your key and the conversation are stored on your Mac. Voice messages are turned into text on your Mac, by Whisper; the recording isn’t sent anywhere, only the text, like a typed message. The speech model is downloaded once, from Hugging Face, when you first use the microphone and agree to it.
  • Claude Code or another MCP client sends the same kinds of data to whichever AI provider that client uses, under its terms.

Your rights

You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, and complain to a data protection authority. The GrooveKit project itself collects no personal data, so there’s usually nothing to hand over; for the website’s server logs, GitHub is the one to ask. Questions go to hello@paulcpk.com.

The source code of the website and the app is on GitHub, so you can check all of this.
